...who? ...what? ...when?

                                     ...and where?

Amy G. Davis is a multi-talented visual artist. She earned a BFA as a printmaker/ photographer and then built a successful award winning career as a visual effects compositor and motion graphic artist in the business of film & television. She has 3 decades of experience, knowledge, and perseverance.

The first computer Amy learned was one of only three units ever manufactured. Being an anomalous object at the time, it sat idle at a post facility in Atlanta, Georgia. It was learning this computer that moved Amy into the world of computer graphics. She began producing designing, animating, rotoscoping, and working as an artist/trainer for computer graphic system manufacturers. She created training material for/and demonstrated techniques at NAB and the Montreux TV Symposium, while also training artists at facilities that had recently acquired systems. Amy was hired by the top post production facility in Atlanta, where she was able to learn more advanced systems. Within two years, she was recruited by a renown motion graphics design company in New York City, where she worked for three years. After which, she decided to begin working as a freelancer and became one of the most requested artists in Manhattan for more than a decade. Amy launched G.wiz, inc. and went on to work in Chicago and Los Angeles, adding more variety to her projects. She was given greater responsibilities- like directing visual effects on-set, and leading a team of artists.

A few years later, Amy was offered a position to manage a design and animation department for a national cable tv network (CMT- Country Music Television). In this position, she recruited and built a strong team of talented artists, assisted with art direction on projects, co-ordinated project schedules, managed creative assets between in-house departments and outside vendors, while maintaining balance and productivity during the network’s rapid growth and physical move.

Years later, Amy took time away from the digital business to reconnect with fine art. She spent time working in a studio where she created mixed media paintings, exhibited in multiple locations,  benefited from sales, and experienced much support from the creative community. Amy realized that she wanted to return to her work as a visual effects artist and re-entered the freelance world - working for clients: Turner Entertainment, HGTV and DIY networks, Netflix, Optimus Chicago, Brickyard Vfx Boston, Zoic NY, Fuse NY, Powerhouse Vfx, Chicken Bone Vfx, and Apple TV on episodic series and feature films. AmyG. continues her work as a freelance visual effects artist, while continuing to nurture her creative endeavors in fine art, writing, and performance.
